Almost every pilot in the universe has a career they are currently working on; whether on a one-time contract or operating on a generational family business, everyone in a career focuses on one thing: making credits.

Careers may be personal, unique endeavours; like being paid by a player to train them in a particular ship's function, or official employment with a large corporation in a particular field. Overall, a player's career is up to them with only their reputation to certain people and companies acting a small hurdle to changing professions.

Note: There are far more ways to earn money than are listed here when including unofficial transactions between players. As such, these are the "official" careers that are supported by ship designs, Comm-links, and documentation.

Master a Operátorské módy

Master módy kompletně změnily fungování všech vesmírných lodí a jejich ovládání. Existují dva - bojový/pracovní (SCM) a cestovní (NAV). Piloti musí být neustále v pohotovosti a dle potřeby módy přepínat.

Podkategorie Master módů jsou módy Operátorské, kam spadají veškeré podrežimy Master módů, jako je težba, skenování, kvantové cestování, salvage, ovládání raket a torpéd a také budoucí kvantový boost.[1]

Zdravotnictví

Vesmír je nebezpečné místo a pokud se zraníte, budete se muset nechat ošetřit. Základní forma ošetření jsou pera s léky nebo například ParaMed pistolka. Mechanika umožňuje i potlačení efektů zranění a také jejich léčení, to se provádí v lékařských lůžkách v lodích, klinikách a v nemocnicích. Zranění jsou rozdělěna na různé úrovně.

V budoucnu mechanika umožní také permanentní smrt, poškození těla a kybernetické končetiny, nemoci, působení a potlačení radiace a další.[2]

Těžba

Těžba zahrnuje objevování, získávání a rafinaci natěžených surovin, přičemž k většině těchto činností se používají lodě. Mechanika ale umožňuje také ruční těžbu nebo težbu malými vozidly. V plánu je i těžba ložisek pod povrchem nebo obrovských asteroidů pomocí budoucí lodě RSI Orion.

Težba je jedním z hlavních povolání, její úspěšné provozování závisí na reálných dovednostech a myšlení. Mezi prvky patří věnování pozornosti trhu s komoditami, orientace v prostoru, hledání nalezišť a nakonec prodej nákladu po jeho vytěžení.[3]

Salvage

Salvage mechanika aktuálně umožňuje odstraňování povrchu lodí (hull scraping), šrotování konstrukce lodí (structural salvage, dříve cutting a munching) a v omezené míře i odebírání komponentů (item stripping). Získané materiály ze salvage lze použít i na základní výrobu nebo drobné povrchové opravy.

V budoucnu mechanika umožní structural salvage ve fyzikalizované podobě pomocí modelu Maelstrom, odsávání paliv a plynů (syphooning) a také sběr cenných dat.[4]
